Bringing Learning and Fun Together: A Special Day at SRA

SRA’s Fun Day is a special opportunity for students and staff to come together through engaging activities that support a wide range of learning styles and interests. From games and cooking to creative expression and reflection, the day is designed to celebrate progress while encouraging connection, skill-building, and fun in a supportive environment.

The day begins with a full-school assembly, where students and faculty gather to reflect and connect. Principal Jen leads the conversation by sharing updates and upcoming events before inviting other staff members to participate. During this time, students are recognized for accomplishments, growth, and perseverance, while faculty are also acknowledged for their dedication and impact. Students also have the opportunity to recognize teachers who have supported them, creating a meaningful exchange of appreciation. The assembly concludes with announcements of the runner-up student, students, and faculty member of the week, bringing a strong sense of pride and accomplishment to the community.

Following the assembly, students rotate through three morning sessions, each offering multiple choices. Options include cooking club, gaming club, watching and discussing Survivor, current events, student council, meditation, and cosmetology club. These sessions allow students to explore interests, practice life skills, and engage in activities that align with their personal goals and strengths. Midday, students alternate between lunch and free-choice time for games, reading, or reflection, helping maintain a balanced and relaxed pace.

In the afternoon, students who met their goals are rewarded with a special activity, such as trips to the beach, ice skating, or movie time. Students who did not meet their goals participate in a reflective session focused on assessment, problem-solving, and planning for future success. The day wraps up with a raffle and a closing assembly, ending on a positive and encouraging note.

While the specific activities may change each time, the purpose of Fun Day remains the same: to support learning, encourage growth, and celebrate effort in ways that feel meaningful to students. A huge thank-you goes to Principal Jen and the SRA faculty for their creativity and dedication in making Fun Day such a positive experience for the entire school community.
