Mount Prospect Academy Students Support Local Business Through Community Service
It’s easy to move through daily life without noticing the small changes happening around us. Between busy schedules and to-do lists, details can often go overlooked. At Mount Prospect Academy, however, those small moments matter. Our students are encouraged to stay present and aware, because it’s often the little things that lead to the most meaningful connections and opportunities for growth.
Recently, students demonstrated this mindset in a powerful way. As the snow melted and the community transitioned into a new season, they noticed that the sign outside Flip’n Furniture had begun to deteriorate and was falling from the building. What could have been overlooked instead became an opportunity to step up and make a difference.
The idea to help was brought forward during a student council meeting, where it quickly gained support. Through this student-led initiative, a group of students and staff organized a visit to the store to assist with installing a new sign. Working together, they were able to complete the project while practicing teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—skills that are central to the Mount Prospect Academy experience.
Flip’n Furniture has long been a valued part of the local community, supporting not only residents but also providing opportunities for MPA students to learn hands-on skills. Being able to give back to a business that has contributed so much made the experience even more meaningful. We’re incredibly proud of our students for recognizing a need, taking initiative, and following through with compassion. Moments like these reflect the strong sense of community and responsibility we strive to build every day.
