Milestones, New Beginnings, and Fall Fun at Mount Prospect Academy

October made its mark on the 2025 calendar with several memorable moments. As one chapter comes to a close and another begins, there was no shortage of excitement across our community. From farm milestones to festive celebrations, here are a few highlights from the month.

Famous Fred’s calendar debut!

We are thrilled to share that Fred the donkey will be featured in the SYA Rescue’s 2026 calendar! A photo of Fred—captured mid–doughnut daydream—was submitted to the SYA photo competition and selected for the January collage. Fred’s charm clearly won over the judges, and we couldn’t be happier to see him getting the recognition he deserves. Supporting Fred and the dedicated team at Hall Farm is easy—purchasing a 2026 calendar is a wonderful way to give back while getting a head start on the new year.

Zinnea and Zoey- besties already!

The month also brought exciting additions to the farm with the arrival of two new calves. Zinnia was born on October 1, 2025, starting the month on a high note, followed by Zoey on October 17. Welcoming two calves in one month was a joyful milestone and a testament to the hard work, preparation, and dedication of the farm team. Growing and sustaining a healthy farm environment takes time, care, and expertise, and we extend our congratulations and appreciation to everyone involved in ensuring a smooth and successful start for these newest farm friends.

Haybale winner “The Mystery Machine”

October wouldn’t be complete without a few Halloween traditions. Once again, Mount Prospect Academy employees organized an outstanding Trunk or Treat event for students and staff. The parking lot was filled with creative decorations, festive costumes, and plenty of smiles, creating an inclusive and joyful celebration for all. The annual hay bale decorating contest added to the fun, and after a close competition, the Adventure Science team claimed victory with their “Mystery Machine” design.Altogether, October reminded us just how special our community is—full of hard work, shared joy, and plenty of moments that make us smile as we head into the winter season.
