Students are taking full advantage of the biggest classroom available—the great outdoors. With so many natural and community resources right in our backyard, students have been spending time exploring local trails, discovering wildlife, and engaging in hands-on learning experiences that bring lessons to life.  

Students have visited a variety of hiking trails and outdoor destinations across the community. Encountering tadpoles, frogs, salamanders, toads, and a wide variety of birds, providing exciting opportunities to observe local ecosystems firsthand. These experiences help students explore the natural environment around them while encouraging curiosity and exploration. 

Students have also enjoyed visiting local landmarks, including scenic waterfalls and a nearby train museum. Whether hiking to a waterfall, learning about local transportation history, or simply taking in the sights and sounds of nature, each outing offers valuable opportunities for learning beyond the traditional classroom setting. These experiences encourage students to build confidence, practice teamwork, and strengthen their connection to the community around them. 

Outdoor learning remains an important part of the student’s experience at Mount Prospect Academy. By exploring new places, observing wildlife, and engaging with community resources, students continue to develop important life skills while creating lasting memories. As the warmer months continue, we look forward to many more adventures that inspire learning, discovery, and personal growth.
