Mount Prospect Academy’s Shelter Care Stabilization Treatment Program is designed for New Hampshire DHHS placed students who need a temporary place to stay while other permanency plans or treatment facility options are explored. The facility accommodates males between the ages of 11-18.
Shelter Care can accommodate up to 10 students at any time. The facility is located at MPA at Campton, in Campton, N.H. Students placed at the Shelter Care program, commonly remain in the program for 60 days or less. During this time, the students will engage in clinical services with an assigned Milieu Clinician through individual and group therapy.
Students in the MPA Shelter Care program attend academic programming at the MPA school located in Plymouth, NH. MPA works closely with each youth’s sending school district to support basic skills development, course credit recovery, and advancement toward the student’s graduation requirements. Academic support faculty and internship advisers are provided by the MPA day school. A strong internship component is embedded within the program, as many of our students benefit from hands-on learning and healthy energy release. On-site internship options include greenhouse/horticulture, culinary arts, maintenance, and building trades. Students who are safe to attend off-site internship programming will have access to courses in: automobile repair, experiential science (outdoor biology, physics, and physical sciences adventure activities), woodworking, and animal-assisted therapies.
